While it is node-based, just like the Resolve color page, a lot of other aspects of Fusion don’t work the same way colorists are used to. If you have never used a node-based compositing application, Fusion may seem a bit strange or foreign to you. Traditionally, color tools have been dedicated to a single task: color grading. I worked for years on Avid|DS – so the concept of jumping between an editing, color grading, and node-based compositing with graphics and paint – all in one app, just feels like home to me.īut I know for a lot of colorists – Fusion may have come as a bit of a surprise. When Blackmagic announced they were fully integrating Fusion into Resolve, I was overjoyed. I’ve also noticed that if I connect anything to the Foreground or Mask inputs of the S_Effect node, nothing works at all.Tutorials / An Introduction to Fusion in DaVinci Resolve 15 A Colorists Guide to the Fusion Node Tree & Workflow Same with the Mask, which should be showing text (I’ve also tried importing a PSD file with text as a mask and that doesn’t work either). However, NOTHING shows up when I click on the Background node. However, because of the way I set it up in Fusion, the HIKER should show when I click on Source, and the DRONE footage should show up when I click on the Background node. However, the ONLY thing that shows up is the drone footage when I click on the Source node in Builder. In the Inspector for the S_Effect node I clicked on Edit Effect to launch Sapphire Builder I connected a Text node to the mask input of the S_Effect node I connected a Media node (video of a hiker) to the foreground input of the S_Effect node I connected a Media node (video of a drone shot) to the background input of the S_Effect node I’m in Davinci Fusion (just upgraded to v 18) and am having trouble getting the Sapphire Builder to work.
